Swaraj, one of the four members of the cabinet committee on security, has started clearing official files from her Delhi residence—something she did even when she was preparing for the transplant at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

“I am back from AIIMS after the surgery. I am seeing the necessary official papers. However, I am not allowed to receive visitors,” she tweeted on Monday.

Although she did not elaborate, people who undergo organ transplant are usually quarantined to prevent infection.

Sources indicated that soon after she returned home, Swaraj went through a bundle of files pertaining to routine and policy issues of the ministry.

While her stint at AIIMs kept her out of public appearances she had continued to work from the hospital. “Officials would regularly meet her there,” said a source.

The surgery took place on December 13. She spent three days in intensive care before she was discharged on Monday.

Information and broadcasting minister Venkaiah Naidu, who has an excellent rapport with Swaraj, tweeted Tuesday morning saying he wants to see her back in office soon.

The foreign minister thanked Dr. Mukut Minz and the entire team of AIIMS for the successful surgery. “I am grateful to the dedicated team of Doctors, SRs, Sisters, technicians and staff of AIIMS. They have lived up to the reputation of AIIMS,” she tweeted.
