India's ace wrestler Sakshi Malik, who has been protesting with other grapplers against the outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh against whom a chargesheet was filed, said that grapplers' lawyer has filed an application to get the chargesheet then accordingly the next step will be decided.
The wrestlers had halted their protest till June 15 after being assured by Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur that the chargesheet in the case will be filed by June 15.

Four Indigenous children rescued in the Colombian Amazon last week after surviving in the jungle for 40 days are in good health but still at "high risk" of infection, the military hospital treating them said Thursday.
The children's medical evaluation was "favorable," it said in a statement, and they were reacting well to a gradual increase in their food intake after weeks of surviving on just berries, fruits and roots.

3 convicted of fatally stabbing Indian-origin man in UK
Three men have been convicted of fatally stabbing an Indian-origin man outside a pub in south-west London last year and will be sentenced at a later date, the Metropolitan Police said on Thursday.
Karamjeet Singh Reel, 31, was found collapsed in the doorway of a pub on Staines Road in Hounslow on June 25 last year where staff and customers provided first aid until the arrival of the London Ambulance Service and police.

Nine days after they were arrested by the Kurukshetra police for blocking NH 44 at Shahbad, Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) president Gurnam Singh Charuni and eight other farmer leaders were released from Kurukshetra police on Thursday.
With the release the government has fulfilled its commitment made to the protesting farmers at Pipli on Tuesday. They were released after the district court granted them bail but the Kurukshetra administration has already promised to withdraw all the cases registered against the farmers for blocking the highway.

Bihar: Three prisoners escape on way to court after throwing balm to guards’ eyes
Three undertrial prisoners in Patna escaped from custody on Thursday after some slimy throwing pain-relieving balm to the eyes of police personnel who were escorting them to a court, an official said, reports PTI.
The three, lodged in Phulwari Sharif jail on the outskirts of the city in connection with cases lodged under the NDPS Act and Arms Act, were being taken to the court in a prison van, said Deputy SP (Town), Ashok Kumar.

Half-naked body of woman found in canal near Karnal
A half-naked body of woman was recovered from the Western Yamuna Canal near Karnal, the police said on Thursday.
However, the woman could not be identified yet but the police said that the deceased was around 25 years old.
The body was spotted by the a passerby and he informed the police. While police suspect it to be a case of drowning as there were no injury marks on the body but the body has been sent for the post-mortem examination at KCGMCH.

SEBI attaches bank, demat, MF accounts of Mehul Choksi to recover dues
Markets regulator Sebi has ordered the attachment of bank accounts and shares and mutual fund holdings of fugitive businessman Mehul Choksi to recover dues totalling ₹5.35 crore, reports PTI.
The latest decision has been taken after Choksi failed to pay the fine imposed on him in October 2022 by Sebi in a case pertaining to indulging in fraudulent trading in the shares of Gitanjali Gems Ltd.
Choksi, who was the chairman and managing director as well as part of the promoter group of Gitanjali Gems, is the maternal uncle of Nirav Modi. Both of whom are facing charges of defrauding state-owned Punjab National Bank (PNB) of more than ₹14,000 crore.

Man arrested for having unnatural sex with cow sent to judicial custody
A 25-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly having unnatural sex with a cow was sent to judicial custody on Thursday, the police said.
A case in this regard was registered at Mukhani Police station under section 377 (unnatural sex) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Hafiz, was nabbed by the villagers following the act on Wednesday and handed over to the police, the police official said.

Three persons were allegedly shot at in West Bengal's North Dinajpur district on Thursday when they were on their way to file nominations for the panchayat polls, officials said, reported PTI.

Six of family killed in house fire in UP's Kushinagar
A 38-year-old woman and her five children, aged between one and 10 years, died in a fire that broke out at their house in this district, police said on Thursday, reported PTI.
The incident took place late Wednesday night in Urdha village, they said.
Sangeeta and her five children got trapped inside the house when the fire broke out while they were sleeping. After getting information about the incident, a fire brigade team reached the spot, doused the flames and pulled out the six family members who had already died, police said.
