Three cops of the Karnal police have been suspended for allegedly forcing a person to fish out the body of man from Western Yamuna Canal. The man who wasn’t a professional diver, drowned in the canal, while doing their bidding.
The Karnal SP has suspended sub inspector Krishan Kumar, head constables Bijender Singh and Krishan, who were posted at Madhuban police station.
The deceased has been identified as Sandeep Kumar (36) resident of Ashok Vihar Madhuban.
The matter came to light when Ram Pal, father of the deceased, got a phone call about his son’s death under mysterious circumstances. When he inquired about it, he found that the cops had allegedly taken his son to fish out a body from the canal. Since Sandeep was not a professional diver, he drowned in the canal, and later his body was taken out with the help of divers, he alleged.
Ram Pal also accused the police of not informing him of his son’s death, and sending his body for postmortem at the mortuary of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital.
Ram Pal, along with his relatives and residents of his locality, held a protest and took up the matter with the Karnal superintendent of police Surender Singh Bhoria. The family members refused to allow the postmortem of the deceased until the police registered an FIR against the cops.

{{/usCountry}}When contacted, the SP said that the three constables have been suspended, and an inquiry has been ordered to ascertain whether the cops compelled him to fish out the body or he himself told the police that he was a diver.
