On a day when the Indian Army’s director general of military operations met his Pakistani counterpart and raised India’s concerns over the movement of terrorists along the Line of Control (LoC), an army jawan was killed when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in Poonch sector.
Official sources said Pakistani troops opened fire at Indian posts around 2pm in Gulpur area, which was retaliated by the army. The sources said the jawan was injured in the firing from across the border and was shifted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday evening.
The jawan, identified as sepoy Deepak Jagannath Ghadge of the 15 Maratha Light Infantry, suffered a bullet injury in the head.
There have been a number of ceasefire violations along the international border and the Line of Control this year.

Ghadge was 27 years old and was from a Maharashtra village called Borgaon in Satara district.
He is survived by his wife and two children – a 2 year-old son and a one-year-old daughter.

{{/usCountry}}An intelligence source said that Ghadge was hit by sniper fire when standing guard at a LoC post in Gulpur area of Poonch district.
The fire had come from a RP post of Pakistan. Subsequently, there was a gun duel between the two sides for around 15 minutes before guns fell silent, the sourced added.
