Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy is set to become the next chief minister of the southern state, as announced by the party on Tuesday. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, in a press briefing, disclosed that the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled for December 7. Recognized for leading the party to a decisive triumph in the assembly elections, Reddy emerged as the face of Congress' successful campaign in Telangana.   90 newly elected MLAs out of 230 in Madhya Pradesh have criminal cases, says ADR report

  After the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh concluded and its results announced, Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) released its report in which it was revealed that 90 newly elected MLAs out of 230 in the state, which is nearly 39 percent, have criminal cases against them.

  ADR is an non profit organisation which discloses criminal, financial, and educational background of the candidates contesting elections.

  "90 winning candidates out of the 230 analysed in 2023 have declared criminal cases against themselves. Similarly, 34 winning candidates out of 230 which is nearly 15 per cent, in the state have declared serious criminal cases against themselves," says ADR report.

  Chhattisgarh: 72 newly-elected MLAs are crorepatis; BJP tops list

  As many as 72 out of 90 MLAs in the newly-elected Chhattisgarh legislative assembly are crorepatis, four more compared to the previous Vidhan Sabha.

  The BJP, which won a landslide victory in the recently-held elections, tops this list with 43 crorepati MLAs, followed by Congress.

  Out of 90 seats, the BJP has won 54 and Congress 35.

  A total of 72 newly-elected MLAs (80 per cent of the House strength) are crorepatis. The BJP tops the list with 43 (80 %) of 54 MLAs each having declared assets valued at more than ₹1 crore.

  17 of Chhattisgarh’s newly elected 90 MLAs face criminal cases

  Out of the 90 newly elected MLAs in the Chhattisgarh assembly, 17 have self-declared criminal cases, with six facing serious charges such as voluntary causing hurt and criminal intimidation.

  The BJP secured a victory in the assembly polls with 54 seats, while the Congress, which had won 68 seats in 2018, was reduced to 35 seats. The Gondwana Gantantra Party (GGP) won in one constituency.

  The Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J) founded by the late chief minister Ajit Jogi and the Bahujan Samaj Party did not secure any seats.

  According to a report by non-profits Chhattisgarh Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), approximately 19% of the newly elected MLAs have declared criminal cases in their poll affidavits, PTI reports.

  BJP MPs elected to assemblies resign from Lok Sabha

  BJP MPs and ministers who won the assembly polls in three states of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, resigned from their Lok Sabha seats on Wednesday. These lawmakers submitted their resignation at the speaker’s office in Parliament.

  As per BJP sources, 10 of the 12 MPs who won submitted the resignation after meeting PM Modi and party president JP Nadda. They were led by Nadda to the speakers office.

  Among those who met the speaker are Narendra Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Riti Pathak, Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap Singh from MP. Rajyavardhan Rathore, Diya Kumar from Rajasthan and Arun Sao Ann's Gomti Sai from Chhattisgarh.

  Baba Balaknath and Renuka Singh are yet to submit their resignation. Of these lawmakers Tomar, Patel and Singh are union ministers. Kirori Lal Meena who is a Rajya Sabha MP also submitted this resignation to the Rajya Sabha chairman.

  HT has reported on Monday that these lawmakers will submit their resignation. With the three ministers also resigning there is speculation of a rejig in the council of ministers.
