A film on the background of the demolition of the controversial structure at Ayodhya dispute, “Game of Ayodhya’ has been cleared for a U/A certification with parental caution and a disclaimer that will be run for at least 90 seconds and be read out as well.

The film was earlier denied certification by the Central Board of Film Certification. The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) overruled the CBFC’s concerns that the film could stoke a communal fire as it deals with the issue in a provocative manner.

In its order, the FCAT--where film makers can appeal against the orders of the CBFC-- said the movie has been projected as fictional love story of a journalist who wants to “repent mistakes” made by him of wrong reporting in the backdrop of the Ayodhya incident.

It further says that the Tribunal did not find “anything objectionable” in the manner in which incidents such as the Rath Yatra have been depicted in the movie.

“There are no gory scenes of violence…our attention has not been drawn to any particular specific scene which can be said to violate any guidelines,” the order says.

He had iterated that the film violates the cinematography act and the visuals and dialogues are potentially harmful to the peace, unity and communal harmony.

But the FCAT has over ruled the objections, stating that “ what is given in the narrative form, most of it already is in the public domain and has been published and/or screened. The impugned order has not pointed to any specific scene, dialogue or part of script of the film that would tend to disrupt peace and communal harmony or endanger security and public order.”
