In Delhi, the faithful thronged the 17th century Jama Masjid and other mosques and offered special prayers.

Muslim devotees celebrated Eid-ul-Zuha, the festival of sacrifice, across India with fervour on Tuesday.

In Delhi, the faithful thronged the 17th century Jama Masjid and other mosques and offered special prayers.

After prayers, muslims distribute part of the meat to the poor outside Jama Masjid in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Several other mosques like Fatepuri Masjid and Idgah Masjid in the national capital were also crowded as people offered prayers.

People offer Eid al-Adha prayers on a street outside a railway station in Mumbai.

Eid-ul-Zuha is also known as Eid-e-Qurban or Bakr-Eid because of the spirit of sacrifice it entails. On this day, Muslims offer goats and sheep as sacrifice.
