Taking cognisance of a complaint filed by a Mumbai resident, the Maharashtra State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MSCPCR) sent a showcause notice to Congress president Rahul Gandhi for disclosing the identity of three Dalit boys who were stripped, beaten and paraded nude in a village at Jalgaon district several days ago by uploading a video clip on his official Twitter account.

In the notice issued by Pravin Ghuge, chairperson, MSCPCR, on June 19, Gandhi has been accused of violating sections related to Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said, “The video was already viral on social networking sites and the Congress chief was not the only person who tweeted it. Moreover, it’s a deliberate attempt made by the BJP to divert attention of the people from real issue — atrocities on Dalits have risen.”
