The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Aman Singh, said to be a key conspirator in the NEET-UG paper leak case, from Dhanbad in Jharkhand. This is the seventh arrest by the probe agency in connection with the NEET-UG probe.
On Sunday, the CBI had nabbed the owner of a private school in Godhra district of Gujarat, the sixth arrest in the case. Dixit Patel, owner of Jay Jalaram School situated near Godhra in Panchmahal district, was arrested for allegedly soliciting between ₹5 lakh and ₹10 lakh from candidates, promising to enhance their examination scores.
The Gujarat Police had alleged that Dixit Patel asked the candidates not to attempt a question if they did not know the answer. The suspects had allegedly planned to fill the answer sheets on behalf of 27 students, whom they charged ₹10 lakh each, after the completion of the exam.
On June 29, the CBI had arrested one Jamaluddin Ansari, a marketing professional with a Hindi media organisation, from Hazaribagh. The arrest came day after the agency officials had arrested Oasis School's principal Ehsanul Haque and vice principal Imtiaz Alam. Haque was appointed the city coordinator by National Testing Agency for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG 2024), the officials had said.

The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducted the NEET-UG examination on May 5, is facing criticism over alleged irregularities. This prompted a series of protests across the country, with demonstrators and political parties demanding to disband the NTA.
“The President mentioned the paper leak in her speech. I expect the entire house to rise above politics and discuss the issue. Unfortunately, it’s being politicised, which is concerning for the country’s future,” the prime minister said while responding to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address in the Rajya Sabha.
