A Pakistani national, accused of entering India illegally was repatriated within hours on Tuesday after his arrest, Border Security Force (BSF) officials said.

The BSF on Tuesday nabbed a man, identified as Shahzad, a resident of Rangoor village in Pakistan after he allegedly tried to cross the border fence into India.

He was arrested along the international border in Ramgarh sector of Samba district, but he was released after learning the man was a person with mental illness, said officials.
“The man was repatriated at a flag meeting between the BSF and Pakistan Rangers in Ramgarh sector on Tuesday itself,” said a BSF official.
According to BSF, Pakistani Rangers confirmed that the arrested person is mentally unfit and accordingly, a flag meeting was held and he was handed over after completion of the necessary formalities.
