The station house officer (SHO) of Rajasthan’s Jhadol police station, Buddharam Bishnoi, was killed and a constable was injured in a road accident while returning to Udaipur from Jodhpur after appearing in a hearing at the Rajasthan High Court, police said.

The accident occurred around midnight in the Chamu police station area of Jodhpur.
Police said that the car in which Bishnoi was travelling went out of control and collided with a tractor-trolley parked on the roadside. The impact severely damaged the car’s bonnet and roof.
Bishnoi died on the spot, while the constable driving the vehicle sustained injuries and was admitted to a government hospital in Chamu, police said. Bishnoi’s body was also shifted to the hospital mortuary.
Chamu SHO Hanuman Bishnoi said a preliminary investigation suggested that the car may have gone out of control after the driver was affected by the glare of headlights from an approaching vehicle. “The glare may have prevented the driver from noticing the tractor-trolley parked on the roadside,” he said.
Police are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
