At least six people were killed and two others seriously injured on Wednesday afternoon when two allegedly racing tractors collided with an e-rickshaw in the Ujhani Kotwali area of Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district, police said.

The accident occurred on the highway between Kachhla and Ujhani near Bhoolpur village.
According to preliminary information, the drivers of two tractors were reportedly engaged in a high-speed race when they crashed into an e-rickshaw carrying several passengers.
Locals alerted the police. The injured were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC), where doctors declared six passengers dead on arrival.
Two critically injured persons were later referred to the Government Medical College for advanced treatment, officers said.
Police officers said that all six deceased were passengers in the e-rickshaw. Circle Officer Ujhani Sunil Kumar Singh visited the accident site and reviewed the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police have seized both tractors involved in the accident and launched a search operation to trace the drivers, who reportedly fled the scene after the crash.
