An accused wanted by Faridkot Police ran over a coconut seller with a speeding Mahindra Thar in the Sunder Nagar area of Punjab's Ludhiana on Thursday, leaving the man seriously injured.

The incident, which took place on August 20, came to light after a video of the dramatic chase and collision surfaced. The Faridkot STF reportedly received information about the presence of the wanted accused, Gurpreet Singh, in Ludhiana and launched a search operation.
According to the police, three STF vehicles were pursuing Gurpreet's Thar when he tried to evade the team by speeding through the narrow and congested roads of Sunder Nagar.
The chase took a dangerous turn near Buddha Nullah, where the speeding Thar struck a man selling coconuts on a cart. The impact reportedly threw the man several feet away, while his cart was also knocked over. The vehicle allegedly did not stop and continued moving, leaving the injured man behind.
The victim was immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital with the assistance of the Ludhiana Police. He is undergoing treatment for serious injuries.

{{/usCountry}}Following the collision, the STF team continued to chase the vehicle and eventually surrounded the Thar on all sides. Gurpreet Singh was apprehended and taken to Faridkot for further investigation.
Police also reportedly detained some of his associates and seized the Thar.
The Ludhiana Police and Faridkot STF are now examining the criminal background of Gurpreet Singh and his associates.
