Day 2 of the third Test at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla went well for India. Virat Kohli scored his sixth double century in Tests, the most by any captain to surpass Brian Lara’s record. All of Kohli’s double hundreds have come in the last 17 months. Now, Kohli, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar are together in the list of most 200s by Indians. He got out for 243, his highest Test score. After India scored 500, play was stopped multiple times due to air pollution as Sri Lankan players called in sick due to pollution. Kohli then decided to declare at 536/7. In reply, Sri Lanka ended the day at 131/3 with Angelo Mathews scoring an unbeaten half-century to trail India by 405 runs.
