Shikhar Dhawan emulates Don Bradman, Virender Sehwag vs Sri Lanka in Galle Test

Shikhar Dhawan smashed a career-best 190 on his Test return and combined with Cheteshwar Pujara to lay the foundation for a big first innings total on the opening day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle on Wednesday.

Shikhar Dhawan scored 126 runs between lunch and tea session as the Indian opener became only the third batsman after Don Bradman and Virender Sehwag in the history of Test cricket to score 100-plus runs in a session twice. (WATCH VIDEO OF DHAWAN’S INNINGS)

Virender Sehwag too accomplished the feat twice in his glittering career. He scored 109 runs in a session against Pakistan during the 2005-06 Lahore Test.

Sehwag repeated his act in the 2007-08 Chennai Test against South Africa, scoring 108 runs in a session. He eventually ended up accumulating 319 in that innings.

While Bradman and Sehwag went on to score a double and triple tons in those innings, Shikhar Dhawan couldn’t emulate these batting greats in this aspect.
