Between 55 per cent to 60 per cent of the 2.41 lakh electorate cast their votes for the lone Lok Sabha seat in the Andaman Islands on Tuesday, according to official sources.

Among the outer islands, Nancowri recorded 65 per cent polling, followed by 63 per cent in Car Nicobar till 3:00 pm, the sources said.
Among the 12 contestants in the fray, Bishnupada Ray of BJP is seeking re-election against Congress rival Manoranjan Bhakta, who had earlier represented the Andamans in the Lok Sabha for a long spell.
Despite the heat, long queues were in evidence before all polling booths during polling hours.
The polling was peaceful, the sources added.
