Seven people were killed and at least 30 others injured when a truck carrying coal crashed into a state transport bus on the Mumbai-Goa Highway on Wednesday.

The incident took place in Nivali Ghat in Ratnagiri around 9am, when the driver of the truck, which was heading towards Mumbai, lost control of the vehicle at a sharp turn. As a result, the truck turned turtle and hit the bus travelling from Chiplun to Ratnagiri.

Officials said the injured were admitted to the Ratnagiri civil hospital and investigations were underway.
