The victim, who was on her way to Saharsa from Gorakhpur after boarding the Gorakhpur-Muzaffarpur passenger train, has been admitted to the railway hospital in Muzaffarpur for treatment.

The shocking incident came to light when the victim lodged a complaint with Muzaffarpur GRP after reaching here on Wednesday morning.

The police swung into action immediately and arrested two persons in this connection after raiding a number of places. Those arrested were identified as Mukesh Verma and Sandip Verma, said to be residents of Samastipur district.

When contacted, the GRP station house officer first feigned ignorance about the incident, saying no one had officially lodged any complaint in this regard. But he later admitted that there was only a “verbal complaint”.

However, Vinod Kumar, superintendent of police of railway (SRP) confirmed the arrest of two youths. But, he denied there was any gang-rape and said it was an “eve teasing matter.”

Kumar said the arrested duo had revealed some names of several other persons involved in the incident. “We have got the medical test conducted - of the victim and the accused,” he said.
