Bihar raises insurance cover for cops in Naxal hit dists

Bihar government will raise the insurance cover of policemen and homeguard personnel posted in 15 Maoist-affected districts from Rs 12 lakh now to Rs 13.75 lakh.

Bihar government will raise the insurance cover of policemen and homeguard personnel posted in 15 Maoist-affected districts from Rs 12 lakh now to Rs 13.75 lakh.

"All police officers, policemen and home guard jawans posted in the Naxalite-affected districts will now be entitled for an insurance cover of Rs 13.75 lakh," Director General of Police Neelmani told reporters in Patna on Monday.

However, the ex-gratia would remain the same at Rs 10 lakh.

The districts identified are Patna, Nalanda, Gaya, Nawada, Jehanabad, Arwal, Aurangabad, Rohtas, Kaimur, Bhagalpur, Sitamarhi, East and West Champaran, Munger and Jamui, he added.
