Bomb found in crowded market in Assam

A major disaster was averted when a powerful bomb, fitted with one kg of IED and a timer, was detected and later defused in a crowded area in Guwahati.

A major disaster was averted on Wednesday when a powerful bomb, fitted with one kg of IED and a timer, was detected and later defused in a crowded area in Guwahati.

The bomb was concealed in an abandoned bag which drew the attention of the people near the bus stand at the Machkhowa area, police said.

The police with the help of bomb defusal squad opened the bag and found the IED with the timer concealed inside.
