The NIA probe into the Burdwan blast and its aftermath points to a clear link between Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, Maoists and Ulfa. Sleuths have found similarities between IEDs used by Maoists and those being manufactured in Burdwan.
The raid in a Kolkata house in which small scale blasts took place in April 2012 has also pointed in this direction.
“We have found a few Dantewada reference while investigating on the house where the blast took place. Even a few of the arms, ammunitions and IEDs used by the Maoists are similar to what we assume the terrorists were making in Bengal. It seems, even if it is in a very small scale, a few explosives that were made by these terrorists have reached the hands of Maoists as well,” said a senior investigating officer.
NIA officials said that their doubts are increasing because the relation between United Liberation Front of Assam (Ulfa) and Jamaat-e-Islami has already been established with members of both outfits taking refuge in both the countries across the border.
Even in the past intelligence officers from Assam have spoken about Maoist-Ulfa links and have claimed that Ulfa chief Paresh Baruah had trained Maoist and had provided them with arms.

{{/usCountry}}“Maoists had links with several terror outfits like the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Ulfa from where they have received both arms and training. We have never found a direct link with Jamaat and the Maoists. But we won’t be surprised if the arms made by Jamaat had reached the Maoists headquarters in Dantewada through the suppliers,” said an investigating officer.
