Cama hospital remembers its two heroes
On Monday morning, staff members and relatives of patients at Cama & Albless Hospital, Dhobi Talao, offered their respects to security guards Baban Ughde and Bhaudev Narkar who lost their lives in the terror attack.
A message board featured tributes to the two men. A memorial built by the hospital last year was decorated with flowers.
More than 100 staffers and relatives of patients observed a minute’s silence to pay respect to all those who lost their lives.
“With Ajmal Kasab’s death, we have found some peace,” said Madhuri Rahate, staff nurse at the hospital, who has promised her colleagues a grand party to celebrate the terrorist’s death.
When Kasab and Abu Ismail had entered the hospital, the nurses had shut the ward doors from inside. “We asked all patients to switch off their phones and asked mothers to breast feed babies to stop them from crying,” said another staff nurse.
The hospital has installed 41 CCTV cameras. “We have raised the height of the compound walls to eight feet,” said Dr Rajshri Katke, medical superintendent.
