Car sales up 1.83% in Feb 2006

Domestic passenger car sales rose by 1.83 per cent in February this year at 62,073 units.

Domestic passenger car sales rose by 1.83 per cent in February this year at 63,215 units as compared to 62,073 units in the same month a year ago.

Sales of two wheelers in domestic market jumped 15.57 per cent in February at 6,00,877 units compared to 5,19,900 units in the same month last year, according to figures released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association.

Commercial vehicles sales during the month surged 19.16 per cent at 35,049 units as against 29,411 units in the same month a year ago.

Bajaj Auto also managed to clock impressive figures at 1,57,386 units of motorcycles in February this year as against 1,17,947 units in the same month a year ago, up 33.43 per cent.

Overall two wheelers sales in the doetic market jumped 15.57 per cent in February at 6,00,877 units compared to 5,19,900 units in the same month last year.

In the commercial vehicles segment, sales during the month surged by 19.16 per cent at 35,049 units as against 29,411 units in the same month a year ago.

The medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HV) segment grew by 17.61 per cent at 21,223 units as against 18,044 units in the same month a year ago. Goods carrier contributed mainly to this segment with 18,368 units as against 15,811 units.

The light commercial vehicle category also grew by 21.6 per cent at 13,826 units as against 11,367 units last year.
