Well known cartoonist Kerala Varma, popularly known as Kevy, passed away in Kochi on Friday.
He was 86 and is survived by a daughter and son-in-law , family sources said. His wife pre-deceased him.

A member of the Ananthapuram Kottaram in Haripad, Varma began his career with Sankar's weekly. He was later appointed as staff cartoonist of Eastern Economist.
An active member of the Cartoon Academy,Varma became famous with his pocket cartoons called 'Bharat Darshan' during the early Sixties and Seventies.
He had sketched cartoons against Indira Gandhi during the Emergency and was also imprisoned during that period.
Varma's cremation was held in Kochi on Friday.
