THE MEDICAL Education Department has decided to change the display format of the Combined Pre-Medical Test (CPMT) results from next year.
The decision has been taken to remove confusion among candidates, who construe their eligibility for counseling as confirmation of their admission to a medical college.
The matter was raised by Medical Education Minister Vinod Kumar Singh on the occasion of the official launch of website for UP CPMT-2006 Counselling on Wednesday.
“Candidates come to my place, claiming admission to a medical course. They seek favours for admission to a better college. But, they are confused regarding counseling and admission. Thus, a clarification is needed,” he said.
Director general (Medical Education) Kamal Sahni also agreed to the minister’s statement and said the medical colleges created this confusion among students.
She said qualifying for counseling was being understood as permission for admission. “The display format for results will be changed after holding a meeting with the management of respective colleges. This will be applicable to the CPMT-2007 results,” she stated.
The web site http:// upcpmt.nic.in has been uploaded with information about counseling schedule, procedure and centres. The website also has information about 26 government colleges and 23 private colleges in the state.

{{/usCountry}}Candidates may go in for on-line mock counseling sessions from June 27 onwards. Earlier, such counsel was supposed to start from June 25, but as the date was not made available by the UP King George’s University of Dental Sciences, the exercise will now be delayed by two days.
“As soon as we get the date, it will be uploaded on the website and candidates can see their rank,” said Sahni.
The website has two important sections ‘Seat Allotment Results’ and ‘Allotted and Vacant Seat.’
These sections will be activated with the on-line counselling.
