Dr Raj Rajagopal

Honouring his brilliant work, the Institution of Electrical Engineers is awarding him the prestigious IEE Manufacturing gold medal for outstanding contribution.

Indians, especially IITins are doing India proud. One such person is executive director of BOC Group plc and chief executive of BOC Edwards division Dr Raj Rajagopal from IIT, Madras.

Honouring his brilliant work, the Institution of Electrical Engineers is awarding him the prestigious IEE Manufacturing gold medal for outstanding contribution to the UK manufacturing industry.

Dr Rajagopal has been with BOC Edwards for over 20 years and has played a leadership role in growing this organisation from a small UK scientific business with sales of around £100m to a leading technology company with a global reach and reputation and sales approaching £1bn.

Dr Rajagopal has a PhD from the University of Manchester and is a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Chartered Management Institute and the Institution of Engineers(India). He is also a non-executive director of FSI International Inc, a NASDAQ company.

BOC Edwards was recently the recipient of the Queen's award for Innovation for its new process-enabling pumping technologies developed for the semiconductor industry.
