The company is in discussions with Reliance Infocomm, Airtel, Tata Indicom, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd that offer wireless data card for Internet connectivity not only in India but also abroad. Professionals dependent on the mobile device to undertake their critical business are prone to virus attacks and hacking on wireless networks like wi-fi.

According to a report by Gartner, by 2008 about 75% of the sales and services workforce worldwide will be mobile. Four out of every 10 PCs purchased by large enterprises will be notebooks.

The number of wireless in local area network (WLAN) hot spot users will more than triple this year, to 30 million, up from 9.3 million users in 2004.

Nayan Jadeja, vice president, Engineering and Delivery FiberLink Communications said, “About 85% of IT managers view mobile working as a serious threat to company data. Our application will allow Indian employees or Indian customers to define flexible policy groups that can help enforce security policies based on their corporate needs. It also allows connectivity for them while traveling anywhere in the world, while ensuring that their security policies are not compromised.”

FiberLink Communications chief executive officer James Sheward said, “Our product offers a highly scalable and secure solution to maximize the flexibility and productivity of mobile employees traveling across the globe”.

He pointed out that mobile working is on the rise within enterprises both in India and worldwide: It’s not just network risks companies need to be concerned about, but also risks to company reputation and their business assets, said Sheward.
