Four Maoist rebels arrested in Jharkhand

Four rebels of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were arrested from two places in Jharkhand today, the police said.

Four rebels of the banned Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) were arrested from two places in Jharkhand today, the police said.

According to the police, three Maoist rebels including the sub zonal commander of CPI-Maoist, Nitish Yadav was arrested from the Palamau district, some 190 km from Ranchi today.

The police said that Yadav alias Sanjay Yadav alias Mantriji was the mastermind behind the landmine blast in which six security personnel lost their lives in Latehar district last week.

The police seized Rs.130,000, one pistol, live cartridges from the three arrested rebels.

Another Maoist rebel, Ratu Badaik, was arrested from Gumla district. Police seized one country made revolver from Badaik.

Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of Jharkhand. In the last seven years, nearly 1,400 people including 744 civilians and 320 security personnel have been killed.
