Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Manohar Sigh has suspended ASI Bashir Ahmad holding the charge of 'munshi' of the Gandhi Nagar police station after the station's register was found not updated during Omar's check on Sunday.
An immediate inquiry into the incident found prima facie that it was negligence on the part of Ahmad and he was placed under suspension, a police official said.
The SSP has also ordered an inquiry into the matter to be conducted by SP headquarters, Jammu.
During his surprise visit on Sunday, Omar checked the daily register of the police station and found that it was not updated and instructed Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, K Rajendra and SSP Jammu to suspend the responsible and conduct an inquiry and take immediate action on the matter.
