Indo-Bhutan border sealed for R-Day celebrations

Security along the Assam-West Bengal border has been beefed up to thwart extremist activities during the Republic Day celebrations.

The Indo-Bhutan border has been sealed temporarily and security along the Assam-West Bengal border has been beefed up to thwart extremist activities during the Republic Day celebrations in the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts Council (BTADC).

Police sources said security has been tightened in all BTADC areas following increasing militant activities in the state and the Republic Day celebrations boycott call by extremist outfits.

Heavy security arrangements have been made in all the four districts of the BTADC - Kokrajhar, Chirang, Udalguri and Baska.

Police patrolling has been intensified these areas, the sources said.
