In a freak accident at the Old Faridabad railway station on Tuesday, a 12-year-old boy died when a 2.5-kg iron part of the passing Bangalore-bound Rajdhani Express hit him on his head.
The boy, who was on the platform, bled profusely and died on the spot. The only surviving member of the boy's family is his paternal grandmother; his mother is dead and father is mentally disturbed.
According to railway officials, the accident took place at 9.12pm when the part from the brake block flew off the train and hit the boy. The deceased, identified as Limka from Ujjain, was waiting for a local train to Palwal on platform number 2 along with his grandmother and three other relatives when the accident took place.
The boy was immediately rushed to a local hospital where his post-mortem examination was conducted on Wednesday. The body was handed over to his grandmother but she said she is too poor to even take care of his last rites.

{{/usCountry}}Harukbhai, the grandmother of the deceased, said, "I have been told that a huge stone-like thing hit Limka and he collapsed."
She said she was extremely poor, with no money even to perform the last rites.
"Limka was my only hope after his father (her son) Mohabat lost his mental balance and fled. And his mother died some time ago," she added. The boy's grandmother said she wants action against the railways for the incident and said she will demand compensation for her grandson’s death.
