Italian arrested for illegal stay

An Italian national, staying "illegally" in the country for the past three years, was on Wednesday arrested from a hotel in Mussoorie near Dehradun.

An Italian national, staying "illegally" in the country for the past three years, was on Wednesday arrested from a hotel in Mussoorie near Dehradun.

Luca Mazia, who claims to be a journalist, was arrested during a verification drive at the hotel, official sources said, adding that his visa had expired in 2005.

The police also arrested the owner of the hotel, Madhukar Jain, for not informing the authorities about Mazia.
