Lavan alias Anil (27), who worked as a medical lab technician, was neighbour of the 22-year-old victim, a resident of Srirampur village in Adilabad district, and wanted to marry her. In the early hours of today, Anil attacked the girl and cut her throat with a sharp weapon and also injured another woman who intervened in the matter before fleeing from the scene," a senior police officer told PTI over phone.
After the incident Anil committed suicide by jumping before a running train at Mancherial town, the police officer said adding Anil even called his friend over phone stating that he was committing suicide following the incident, despite his friend's advise to surrender before the police.
