Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal shifted base from Tilak Lane in central Delhi back to Kaushambi in Ghaziabad on Tuesday.
Sources said the former chief minister — along with his wife and two children —shifted to flat number 403 at Girnar Apartments, where the family stayed before the accommodation at Tilak Lane was allocated to Kejriwal.
Though the belongings of the family were shifted to Kaushambi by the evening, Kejriwal himself reached home at night after attending various Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
Senior police officers said the family would be provided security if they wanted. Dharmendra Singh, senior superintendent of police, said: “No request for police security has been made by AAP. Security will be provided once such a request is forwarded. Before providing security, police will verify the threat assessment”.
On January 1, Arvind Kejriwal had shifted to Delhi after being sworn in as chief minister.
Arvind Kejriwal had been residing in a three-bedroom flat at Girnar Apartments in Kaushambi since 1995 with his wife, two children and parents. The society is home to 84 Indian Revenue Services officers. The house was allotted in the name of Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal, who is an IRS officer.
Kejriwal was under pressure to vacate his C II/23, Tilak Lane residence after he quit as chief minister but had managed to stay on, citing his daughter’s need to appear for her board examinations. He had, however, informed authorities that he would vacate the house by July end and until then pay the market rent.

{{/usCountry}}Party sources said that AAP would retain the Hanuman Road office in Central Delhi, which will be converted into a makeshift accomodation-cum-office for Kejirwal as he was the MLA from the area.
The party’s central office already acts as the office-cum-residence for several AAP volunteers and leaders, including Gopal Rai and Sanjay Singh.
Kejriwal was keen to continue living in Delhi and had almost zeroed down on a house at Civil Lines. He had to abandon that plan after news surfaced that the house was embroiled in a legal tangle.
