Lucky was probably one of Bollywood’s most awaited films. In fact, the entire industry has its hopes pinned on this. So is the end result really worth the wait? Well yes, if you like the typical Bollywood masala films.

Russia is the scene of action in the film. St. Petersburg and its gorgeous locales are one of the highlights of the film. The film has a very strong first half — you don’t even realise when the first half is over. But then, it is the second half that really takes the cake. It makes you wait anxiously for the film to end. Except for the music, which keeps you rooted to your seats, there isn’t much in the script to hold the viewer’s interest.

The story is predictable. Two strangers meet thanks to a strange twist of fate. Lucky (Sneha Ullal) is an innocent school girl while Aditya is the big bad wolf, except that he has a heart of gold. There is an ongoing war between the government and the militants and our two protagonists get hopelessly caught in a journey which covers a cemetery, burning highways and tanks.

The movie is based on their escapades. For a change, the violence is quite bearable since they blend well with the story. Mithunda also makes an appearance as a secret agent who plays the buffoon.

The performances are quite good. Salman Khan with his witty comments is quite a refreshing change. Sneha portrays Lucky’s role convincingly. A special mention must be made of the dialogues which are excellent. So what are we complaining about? Well, the Russian dialogues with no subtitles.
