After the victim moved court, it directed authorities to get her medical test done on May 18. The report confirmed rape.

The victim, Rekha (name changed), has been living in Rajeev Nagar, Gurgaon, with her mother, three brothers and a sister-in-law.

“Rekha was allegedly raped by accused Neelu Singh, her elder brother, for over two months. The last time he raped her was on April 12,” said Rekha’s lawyer Durgesh Boken. The lawyer said Singh threatened to kill her if she disclosed the matter. “Her mother refused to help her when she revealed the crime. Her second elder brother came to her rescue. He helped her file a complaint but the policed refused to take note of the FIR,” said Boken. “Then she directly went to court.”

However, police said no such incident came to their notice. “We didn’t find any such complaint. If the case came to us, we will certainly take action against the culprit,” said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP (west).
