On October 12, altogether 49 seats in Bihar go to polls in the first phase of the five-phase assembly elections in the politically crucial state where the BJP is up against the so-called grand alliance of the JD(U)-RJD-Congress. As the poll battle – which many say will shape up the remaining part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure, is all set to begin, here are some interesting facts about the 583 candidates in the fray and the registered 1.35 crore voters in the first phase.
