Demanding either “ban” on broadcasting of program or “deletion” of objectionable content, the Punjab minister on Saturday wrote to union information and broadcasting minister Ambika Soni.

Gabria said he was promoted to join the war against actress as in past five days he had received more than two dozen complaints from various associations and individuals.

"Whichever place I visited during past five days people would approach me with a plea that being cultural affairs minister I must support them in their war against vulgar and dirty programs such as Rakhi Sawant’s show”, Gabria told Hindustan Times.

Having already courted a nationwide controversy , the show had even landed Rakhi in legal trouble with Uttar Pradesh police slapping a FIR against Rakhi after a show participant Lakshman Ahirwar died allegedly due to depression he had suffered after he was insulted on the show episode aired on October 23.

"I could pacify them only when they were convinced that such ban came under union ministry’s purview”, Punjab minister said.

Gabria, who has not watched any episode of the show so far, said he had asked his office to check the content of the show and submit a report so that necessary auction be taken, if required at Punjab government’s end.
