The Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha has asked CNN-IBN Chief Editor Rajdeep Sardesai to appear before it on November 22, 2006 for breach of privilege following the sting operation “Neta Bikta Hai” telecast on February 15, 2006.
A decision to give a notice to Sardesai was taken at an all party meeting that the Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey presided over on Thursday. The Principal Secretary Vidhan Sabha Rajendra Prasad Pandey said a notice would be issued asking Rajdeep Sardesai to appear before the House on November 22, 2006.
Earlier the Vidhan Sabha had passed a resolution ordering that Sardesai be produced before the House under police custody on October 27, 2006. Later Sardesai moved the Supreme Court on the issue and assured the SC that he would present himself before the Vidhan Sabha on the appointed date.
A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the House was also held. As per the agenda that the committee cleared the State Government would table the third supplementary grants for 2006-2007 in Vidhan Sabha on Friday. The House would pass the grants the same day. After the Friday's meeting the Vidhan Sabha would meet again on November 22 and 23, 2006.
