Known as "Prayag of Chattisgarh" this place too has an interesting story behind its name. Apparently as legend would have it, the ancient name of Rajim was Kamalkshetra or Padampur. Lord Vishnu is worshipped here in the temple. The group of temples include Kaleshwar Mahadev, Rajiv Lochan, and Rajeshwar temple.

The constituency has been nurtured by senior Congress leader Shyama Charan Shukla who has won from here for five times. Shukla, who was elected trice as Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh is still a force to reckon with in the new state politics.

Shukla had won by a handsome margin in 1998, but vacated the seat in 1999 after being elected to the Lok Sabha from Raipur. SC Shukla's son Amitesh Shukla won the by-elections from Rajim and has become a minister in Jogi's cabinet.
