RWA poster to urge residents to vote

‘Come out and vote’ will be the slogan of all Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWA) of the city.United Resident Joint Action (URJA), an umbrella group of RWAs, will unveil a poster on March 26 urging all residents to cast their vote in the upcoming municipal elections.“Residents are the ones who decide the country’s future. Everything depends on their one vote. With this poster, we are trying to increase the voter turn out this time,” said Ashutoush Dikshit, member of People’s Action, an advocacy group that looks after social and economic issue of the citizens.

The poster will be launched by Rakesh Mehta, State Election Commissioner. To make sure that it reaches out to all kinds of people, URJA has designed the poster in both Hindi and English.

“We want the message to be all-inclusive. Therefore, we have made the poster in both languages. We will mobilise all residents with this campaign,” added Dikshit.

RWAs from all parts of the city are putting in their best efforts to have a better voter turn out this time as compared to the last elections.

The RWAs across the city will meeting at India Gate on Sunday to set a common agenda, which they want the political parties to include in their manifestos.

“We have created a roadmap for the upcoming elections. Political parties see RWAs as their vote banks. So, before they go to polls we want them to include our demands in their manifestos so they become more accountable once they come to power,” said Rajeev Kakaria of Greater Kailash I RWA.
