"The Telgi case may become an election issue in the state assembly elections but not in the Lok Sabha elections," Shinde told reporters here.

"I am worried as no political party is raising developmental issues in the election campaign in the state", he said.

"The Lok Sabha polls educate public and the political parties should raise national and international issues along with their respective party's philosophy on the issues to woo the voters," he said.

The anti-incumbency factor would have some effect in the polls and the division of secular votes was possible, Shinde said adding, "the voters are aware that the division of votes would benefit the fundamentalist parties and would not allow it."

Commenting on the personal attacks made by opposition parties on him, Shinde said "the criticism is not new to me and that there was no need to respond to it."
