Returning Officer of Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency has directed impounding of about 41 vehicles which participated in a Shiromani Akali Dal procession in alleged violation of the election code on the day of filing of papers by its candidate Sukhbir Singh Badal.

After a thorough probe conducted by the Assistant Returning Officer it was found that at least 41 vehicles, including one dozen buses and about one dozen jeeps participated in the SAD procession on April 21.
Returning Officer Hussan Lal IAS directed the Senior Superintendent police of Moga Muktsar and Faridkot to impound these vehicles immediately. The District Transport officers of the respective districts were also directed to impound these vehicles as they will not be allowed to be used in the election campaign.
The Returning Officer said that the three election observers for Faridkot Lok Sabha constituency took note of the huge procession consisting of large number of vehicles and holding of an election rally in front of the mini secretariat by Sukhbir Singh Badal accompanied by SAD Chief Parkash Singh Badal soon after the filing of nomination papers on April 21.
The election observers who were checking the counting centers at that time noticing the whole affairs, directed the RO cum Deputy Commissioner Hussan Lal to get the whole affairs videographed.

The ARO report found that 41 vehicles violated the model code of conduct.
