Maderna and Malkhan, who are main accused in the case, have admitted to relations with the nurse, but have denied a role in her abduction and murder.

Meanwhile, police divers recovered a bag containing two country-made pistols and a wooden bat from the Rajiv Gandhi canal on Friday. Water supply to the canal had been stopped for the CBI to locate the remains of Bhanwari, allegedly dumped by Bishna Ram Bishnoi and Kailash Jakhar, who were arrested on Wednesday.

CBI sleuths are also looking for Bhanwari's watch that one of the accused claimed was thrown into the canal.

Killing cost Rs 28 lakh
Bhanwari's elimination cost her killers about Rs 28 lakh, distributed across conspirators and executioners, CBI sources said.

Sources said Bhanwari was killed on September 1, the day she was lured by accused Sahi Ram. Later, Sohan Lal and Shahabuddin joined him. The plan was to hand her over to local criminal Bishna Ram. But, when Bhanwari tried to run away, she was killed and the body was given to Bishna Ram. "In the morning, Bishna Ram threw the ashes and a layer of burnt earth in the nearby canal," said the source.
