According to police, Rekha Soni, 29, daughter of Ratanlal Soni, a resident of Aman Colony near Pushpa Nagar, had gone to the Kali Temple with her cousin Hema.

They were returning on their motorcycle MP 04/NG-2990 late in the night and found the level crossing at Barkhedi shut. Rekha bent the bike in order to cross the track.

The train was approaching but she felt it was still far. Though her cousin reportedly tried to dissuade her from crossing the track, she didn’t listen and moved past under the gate. When she was about to cross the track, the Sachkhand Express hit her.

Rekha and her motorcycle were crushed to pieces. The deceased, Rekha, was unmarried. She was a commerce graduate and engaged in social work.

There was no light around the track and she couldn’t judge the distance of the train by seeing engine’s light, the police surmise.
