Barwani district collector Tejaswi Naik on Saturday set an example by picking up empty food packets from the ground at a farmers’ summit in the city and putting them in a dustbin.

Later, the farmers were served food packets prepared by the district administration. After eating, the farmers threw the empty packets on the ground, leading to Naik picking up the waste.
Ashamed by the collector’s act, all the officers and public representatives present also pitched in and within 25 minutes, the ground was clear of waste.
“It was my programme, hence I was responsible for each thing which goes wrong. Instead of scolding the officials, I wanted to get the message was loud and clear,” Naik said.
