Deaf and mute institute kids welcome Geeta in Indore

Poha-jalebi was prepared especially for Geeta, who will call the institute home until she is reunited with her family.

“The children have decorated her room with flowers and also made her a card. They seemed to be quite excited with her arrival. The excitement is greater because they have thus far only seen her on TV. It was for the first time that they met her in person,” said Gaurav Verma, manager of the institute.

The students all got together to prepare a special menu for her first dinner at the hostel. “They have been preparing for it since morning,” added Verma.

Dr Gyanendra Purohit, a speech therapist who interacted with her during a video chat, will also be spending time with Geeta during her visit. Stating that it was a matter of great honour that of all the institutes in the country Geeta will be living in Indore, he said vocational training would be provided to her during her time in the city.

‘Country’s daughter Geeta will stay in Madhya Pradesh. We will take care of her facilities and will ensure that she gets an atmosphere of a family here’.
