The IMC started door-to-door garbage collection in August last year.

The IMC started door-to-door garbage collection in August last year, and has managed to extend the services to 67 municipal wards in the city so far. It has been extending the services in eight to ten wards at a time, as per its procurement of vehicles and workforce availability. IMC has a target to spread the services in the entire city before the end of this year.

However, complaints arose when IMC issued bills towards garbage collection in the area on Sunday, when it has not initiated services in the ward yet.

The resident associations on Monday approached the area corporator with the bills issued by the municipal body and apprised him of the matter.

“About 400 households in ward number 44 received bills to be paid towards door-to-door garbage collection, whereas the services are yet to take off here,” said the area corporator, Rupesh Devaliya.

The corporation is collecting a user charge of Rs 60 per month from each residential unit and Rs 90 per month from commercial establishments.
