Green corridor sees 7th successful run in Indore

This is the seventh such successful operation during the past six months, which would save more than four lives, he said. A green corridor means making the roads traffic free for ambulances to ensure that such organs are transported quickly.

The organs, liver, kidney heart, eyes and skin were donated by a twenty-year-old resident of Jajam Khedi village Pappu Dawar before he was declared brain dead at the Sri Aurobindo Institute for Medical Science (SAIMS) in Indore in the wee hours of Monday.

The organ harvesting took place for the first time at the hospital which was carried out soon after Dawar was declared dead at around 2 am. The district administration and the traffic police created two green corridors soon after the organs were taken out.

However, this time the entire team of the Muskaan Foundation had a tough time convincing the family of the deceased due to their educational background. “Parents of Pappu are labourers with very little information and awareness about the organ donation. We had a tough time explaining them about it,” said Naresh Fundwani, worker from the group.
