“We discover dengue larvae very commonly as they breed in clear water only. On our visit to the hospital, we found a similar sight,” said Dr GL Sodi, in-charge of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP), which also conducted inspections in different parts of the city.

Interestingly, out of the 71 patients in the city who have tested positive for dengue, a large number is undergoing treatment at MY Hospital. The health department too spent more than three months sensitizing people about the disease, only to find its own department defaulting on protocol.

So far, no fine has been levied upon the hospital, however, the larvae found in the premises have been destroyed by the team.

“We have not received any cases since the last week. Also our programme of classifying our staff and giving them a target of sixty houses each has helped in the reduction of the cases. If we do not receive any new cases in the coming fifteen days, we will wind up the entire campaign,” said Dr Sodi.
